Breast cancer ranks at number one, amongst all cancer cases in India. Biennial screening is recommended to enhance early detection of breast cancer. Lack of awareness, cost and availability of services is a hindering factor to undergo screening. Free screening camps as means to motivate women to seek the facility at her doorstep is the strategy adopted under the breast cancer awareness and screening programme.
NPSS conducting cancer awareness and screening camps for the specially economically weaker sections of the Society.
We, have a Mobile van with a novel software-based medical device to detect breast cancer at a much earlier stage than traditional methods or self-examination. This solution is accurate, automated, portable cancer screening tool that can be operated in any clinic. This imaging method is radiation free, non-touch, not painful and works for women of above 30 years ages.At the camp, women were screened in a Mobile Van. To ensure privacy, even the women technician performing the test stayed outside the screening area.
We conduct 250 to 300 camps per year in Mumbai, Thane, Navi Mumbai, Palghar We screening 30 to 35 women in each camp. We also provide counselling for positive patients for better treatment. Such camps are organised at the request of social organisations, Housing Societies Charitable Institutions, Educational Institutions etc. who can approach NPSS for the same.
