Medical Aid


NPSS also provides financial assistance to poor patients undergoing treatment at Government hospitals like Tata Cancer Hospital , KEM, LTMG Sion hospital & Wadia hospital. Applications for such patients are received directly from Medical Social Worker (MSW) of the respective hospitals. After scrutinising the genuineness of the claim, the financial assistance is provided by making direct payment to the concerned hospital on behalf of the patients. The amount in the range of Rs.2,500/- to 5,000/- per patient depending on requirement is given . At present financial assistance is being extended to about 200 patients per month amounting to Rs10 lacs. Large number of poor patients have been benefited from this scheme which was started in the year 2005..


Under Annapurna Scheme the relatives of the poor patients having no accommodation and living on the foot paths of Tata Cancer Hospital are provided daily with 165 cups of tea and biscuit packets. This scheme is operative since 2004. Similarly Dates packets are distributed at Sewri T. B. Hospital to TB patients twice in a month. And Lunch at Rs.10 only and Breakfast at Rs5 only are provided to the patients and relatives accommodated in Rugna Seva sadan .


Salient Features

  • Cataract operations are undertaken at free of cost for the weaker section of the society.

  • NPSS has acquired a Mobile Van with a novel software-based medical device to detect breast cancer at a much earlier stage. This solution is accurate, automated, portable breast cancer screening tool that can be operated in any clinic. This imaging is radiation free, non-touch, not painful and works for women of all ages. Under this project Mobile Screening Van will visit various corners of Mumbai city and nearby suburbs and conduct breast cancer screening camps for the females. Such camps are organised at the request of social organisations, Housing Societies Charitable Institutions etc., who can approach NPSS for the same.

  • To & from Ambulance service is extended free of cost since 1999 to the resident patients who have to visit Tata, KEM, Wadia Hospitals for their treatments. Outside ambulance services are also provided occasionally at concessional rate.

  • NPSS actively arranges at frequent intervals, blood donation camps to which it receives overwhelming response from people in general. Collected blood is donated to Municipal and or Government Hospitals.

  • NPSS conducts health awareness programs at various locations at regular intervals. Renowned doctors, medical social workers and conciliators guide the gathering of women on their health issues.
